Introducing Dogtown STREAM

COVID-19 has ushered in a whole new way of experiencing dance. While we can't gather for live shows, a new world of virtual performance has opened up, expanding the possibilities of how we can all engage with artists and dancers from all over. At Dogtown, we have been working hard to continue to provide accessible dance for artists, patrons, and community members. We are proud to highlight our new streaming service, Dogtown STREAM. This innovative platform, hosted through Vimeo streaming, is a state-of-the-art, easy-to-use streaming platform that brings the power and beauty of live performances directly to you, wherever you are, and whenever it fits your schedule. Performance archives, upcoming performances, and independent projects are all included in this new, exciting way that Dogtown is sharing art with the community. What's best is these videos can be viewed across multiple devices and from anywhere, meaning you can tailor your viewing experience to your lifestyle! Viewers will even be able to access content via app, meaning users can beam flawless video anywhere, live or on demand. Apps will be available for download for smart TVs, Apple devic

es, Roku, and iOS.

Viewers will gain access to a variety of performance types: archives, upcoming performances, and independent projects. Dogtown’s mainstage 2021 performances will include: Mardi Gras RVA, Richmond Dance Festival, and Dogtown Presenters Series. Archival footage available for streaming will include performances by local Richmond artists such as Claves Unidos, Salsa Connection Dance Company, RVA Dance Collective, Studio 4 Dance Agency, and Dogwood Dance Project.

Beyond its own performances and dance programming, Dogtown is always striving to connect the Richmond community through the power of dance. Through our new Dogotwn STREAM, Dogtown will continue to support independent artists. This time has disenfranchised artists and cr

eated barriers of all sorts when it comes to making and presenting new work. Using the power and accessibility of the Vimeo platform, artists will be able to create and showcase their work in affordable ways thus expanding their audience into the digital sphere and expanding their personal body of work. Viewers will gain exclusive access to original, state-of-the-art performance and video works made my members of their own communities as well as artists from around the world. The exciting and accessible online format of Vimeo STREAM is allowing Dogtown to respond to the unemployment crisis that is heavily affecting artists by creating opportunities for work and connection during this time.

Subscriptions to Dogtown STREAM are $35.99/year, a $55 value! Not to mention that viewing from home will save you dollars in gas, dressy clothes, and drinks :).

Performances will also be available for individual rental; audiences on the subscription-based model will be able to view the entire season anytime at a flat rate. Viewers will also have access to archival performances free of charge, including past performances at both Richmo
