Dogtown Dance Theatre is a unique venue available to rent for your special event, performance or concert.
Please adhere to the provisions detailed here:
Available times for use
- Dogtown Dance Theatre is available seven days a week from 10:00am to 10:00pm.
- Only one event is scheduled per day.
- Dogtown Dance Theatre is accessible to the client and vendors two hours prior to the event (for setup) and one hour after the event's scheduled end time (for break down).
- Guests must leave the Theatre when the event is scheduled to conclude. One does not have the option to continue the event past the scheduled end time.
Capacity
- The maximum capacity of the main theatre space is 200 guests.
Caterers
- All food must be served inside the building.
- Food must be provided by one of the preferred caterers below.
- Catering arrangements are the responsibility of the renter.
Event accessories
- Because of limited storage space in the building, Dogtown Dance Theatre does not provide tables, chairs, etc. Please make arrangements with your caterers to provide those items.
Security
- Each event is required to have one licensed security officer per 100 guests. The security officer will remain present until all guests vacate the premises at the end of the event.
- Dogtown Dance Theatre will book the officer with the Richmond’s Sheriff’s Department but the fee is the renter’s responsibility.
Smoking
- Smoking is strictly prohibited in the building.
Alcoholic beverages
- Event attendees must be at least 21 years of age to possess or consume alcohol.
- Alcoholic beverages may not be sold or served to individuals who appear to be or are intoxicated.
- No person may bring any type of alcoholic beverage into a licensed facility or area, nor may any person take alcoholic beverages out of a licensed facility or area.
- Your caterer must address and be responsible for all necessary ABC requirements.
Trash removal
- We do not provide trash removal. Please make arrangements with your caterer to remove the trash from the building at the end of your event.
- There will be a $100 charge if any food, flowers or trash is left inside the building.
Parking
- Free parking is available during rentals hours in the lot adjacent to Dogtown Dance Theatre (near the medical building) and on the surrounding streets.
Miscellaneous
- All proposed decorations must be approved by Dogtown Dance Theatre prior to your event. All decorations must be delivered and removed the day of the event.
- Only small candles in appropriate votives are allowed.
- No rice, bird seed or confetti is allowed inside the building or on the premises.
- No duct tape is permitted on the floors. If cords need to be secured, we suggest utility rugs to cover them and prevent tripping.
- No furniture is to be dragged across the floor as it will scratch.
- All entertainment must cease by the time stated in your contract.
- Dogtown Dance Theatre reserves the right to monitor the noise level during your event.
Liability
- Outside groups using Dogtown Dance Theatre must agree to indemnify and hold harmless Dogtown Arts Foundation, Dogtown Dance LLC and its employees and agents against any and all claims, liabilities, costs and expenses, including attorney fees and court costs, concerning lost, damaged or stolen property, or personal injuries or death arising from the activities of such groups or their participants. Facilities are not locked during time of rental and Dogtown Dance Theatre is not responsible for articles left unattended.
